This area of Snowdonia probably offers the widest range of walk type and difficulty that it is possible to find in the UK in such a concentrated zone:
Along
shores and dunes at Llandanwg,
Barmouth, Dyffryn and Harlech.
Alongside the river Clwedog for the
Torrent Walk
in Dolgellau.
Crossing the
Mawddach Estuary
then on up to the
Panorama Walk
and along to Penmaenpool Bridge.
Mountain walks such as the mighty
Cader Idris
the second most climbed mountain in Wales or the rugged
Rhinogau
mountains.
On a hot day the woodlands offer shaded walks through forests great and small such as
Coed y Brenin
and
Coed Llyn Mair
near Maentwrog.
Walks with a mining theme such as
Gwynfynedd Gold Mine
near Tyddyn Gwladys and the
Glasdir Copper Mine.
both within Coed y Brenin.
Lakeside walks at
Creggenan Lake
on Cader Idris and
Lake Trawsfynedd,
north of Coed y Brenin.
Real afficiandos should come for the 10 day
Barmouth Walking Festival
in September.
